Troubleshooting (WearOS)

This guide helps you resolve common issues you might encounter when using WowMouse. If you don't find a solution to your problem here, please reach out to our support team or join our Discord community for assistance.

General Issues

  • If you are unable to discover your watch on any device, make sure that the watch is not actively connected to the phone that it was paired with during the initial setup of the watch ‒ this connection may prevent any other Bluetooth connection from happening.

  • If you are having problems with tap detection or cursor lag:

    • Make sure the watch battery level is at least 30%
    • Turn off WiFi
    • Make sure the watch is on the same hand as specified in settings, and you're wearing it such that the buttons are on right side of the watch
    • Disconnect all other devices connected to your watch
    • Restart app or watch
  • If the cursor is moving upside down, open settings and check if your hand is set correctly.

Android

  • On some Android devices, you may need to try pairing multiple times before it succeeds. If pairing fails more than three times in a row, try restarting Bluetooth on your Android device before retrying.

  • On some Android devices, the watch may appear as two different devices with the same name. If one of them has a headset icon next to it, try pairing to that one.

  • If you are successfully connected, but input doesn't come through, make sure that when you click the device name of your watch in the Bluetooth settings, "Input device" mode is enabled.

Watch Won't Connect to Device

If your watch isn't connecting to your computer, phone, or headset:

  1. Check Bluetooth Status

    • Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both devices
    • Verify that your watch is within range (typically 10 meters/30 feet)
    • Try toggling Bluetooth off and on again on both devices
  2. Check Compatibility

    • Confirm your watch model is supported (see Compatibility)
    • Verify your operating system is supported

Gestures Not Being Detected

If your watch isn't recognizing your gestures:

  1. Check Gesture Settings

    • Verify that the correct gesture detection mode is selected
    • Try adjusting the thresholds under Settings > Advanced
  2. Proper Watch Placement

    • Ensure your watch is securely fastened to your wrist
    • The watch should be positioned about one finger's width from your wrist bone

False Gesture Detection

If your watch is detecting gestures you didn't intend:

Adjust Thresholds

  • In Settings > Advanced:
    • Decrease the double tap interval time for faster double taps and less false interactions
    • Increasing the flick threshold needs bigger movements to trigger the gesture. This reduce false positives e.g. while walking.

Cursor Moves Erratically

If your cursor is jumping or moving unpredictably:

Adjust Cursor Settings

  • Decrease cursor sensitivity in the WowMouse app
  • Increase cursor smoothing

Battery Drain

If WowMouse is consuming battery quickly:

Adjust Advanced Settings

  • Enable Dim Screen.
  • Disable Haptic Feedback.

App Crashes

If the WowMouse app crashes:

  1. Update App

    • Ensure you have the latest version from the app store
  2. Reinstall

    • Uninstall and reinstall the WowMouse app
    • Set up your preferences again
